The Cedar Ridge Ranch sits on top of a sandy hill in Pierce County, Nebraska, surrounded by fifty-year-old cottonwood trees and a thick growth of Eastern Red Cedars. We are family-owned and operated, a working emu farm..Our birds have spacious pens, carefully fenced to keep them safely in, and predators out. Each pair, or group of yearlings, has access to a fully insulated barn, with heat lamps added during the winter. Fresh water and special Purina rations fill their tummies.We use no growth hormones or antibiotics. Our birds are wormed with diatomaceous earth. Ducks control the grasshoppers; goats trim the weeds. Very few chemicals are used here -only as required for control of noxious weeds. We are a prime example of "alternative agriculture" - something other than hogs and cattle, beans and corn. We raise emus, process them, and create products from their oils. Finally, we market those products directly, on the Internet, and through groups such as GROW-Nebraska.For your protection, all processing is done in a USDA inspected plant in Sterling, Oklahoma. The oil is refined in Marlow, Oklahoma, at one of the six certified emu oil refineries in the U. S. The oil meets/exceeds standards set by the American Emu Association, in coordination with the American Oil Chemists' Society. Also, it undergoes molecular distillation, to remove any trace metals, thus becoming the purest grade of emu oil available today. Our products are created in Nebraska, at an FDA-inspected cosmetic manufacturing plant. Encapsulating and processes not available in Nebraska are done at a similar plant in Oklahoma, using our oil.
